Homemade Tomato sauce
Transform a basic dish into a savory moment with our Homemade Tomato Basil sauce recipe.
2 tbsp Olive oil
1/2 Yellow onion
1 Garlic clove
10 leaves of fresh Basil (avoid the dried ones)
1 tsp of Sugar
Can of 400g of chopped Tomatoes
250g of pasta
Gratted cheese (quantity to your liking !)
Chop your onion and crush the garlic clove.
Heat the olive oil (2 tbsp) in a sauce pan at medium-high heat.
Cook the diced onion and crushed garlic for around 5 minutes until the onion soften.
Add the 400g of can chopped tomatoes and the teaspoon of sugar in the pan and let it come to boil. In the meantime, chop your 10 fresh basil leaves.
Reduce the heat to low, add the basil to the sauce and let it simmer for 30 to 45 minutes. Stir every 10 minutes.
Cook your pasta so they are ready when the sauce is done cooking.
I would advise to mix the pasta and your tomato basil sauce in the pan or the pot before serving. Leave them for 3 to 5 minutes at low heat.
Serve and add the gratted cheese. Enjoy your tasty homemade meal !
